3 Beautiful Sisters

This is Ruth Simpson Denkers. My mothers eldest sister born to William Orion Simpson and Divina Miller Simpson.

This is Afton Simpson - my mom's middle sister. Amazing to me how much alike these 3 girls look. All 3 of these pictures are from their "Engagement pictures".

This is my mom, born Nora Simpson August 9th 1928. She was not raised with her other siblings and it wasn't until I was married with children of my own that I first met her sister Ruth. At that time, Ruth was the only remaining living sibling. Afton and their brother Howard had both passed away earlier.

Family Connections

NelsonRM_04_rgb.jpg

"Consider the spiritual connections that are formed when a young woman helps her grandmother enter family information into a computer or when a young man sees the name of his great-grandfather on a census record. When our hearts turn to our ancestors, something changes inside us. We feel part of something greater than ourselves. Our inborn yearnings for family connections are fulfilled when we are linked to our ancestors through sacred ordinances of the temple."

Sometimes No Change is a Good Thing

It was kind of funny because this picture was probably taken in the 1950's. And right up until the passing of my grandma when we sold her home, their front room never changed. I know the stereo was still there. The picture on the wall was the same. The clock was still there, as was that planter. As I look at this picture, it's kind of funny what kind of comfort this familiarity brings. Makes me feel like I could go home if I wanted to.

Simpler Times

This is a picture of my dad and his brother Bud at their Grandma and Grandpa Sorensen's house in Willard. Apparently this toy car was built for them by their uncle Howard. Somethings haven't changed over the years, uncles still like to give their neices and nephews toys that are either noisy, messy or they kill themselve on. Chances are those 2 boys played with that car for hours without anyone getting hurt and without anyone needing stitches. That is one thing that has changed over the many years. Kids used to be able to play outside. They used their imagination. They didn't have t.v. and video games and the computer to occupy their time. It certainly seems like a much simpler time doesn't it?

If you don't know where to start - just start

Ok, so the meer thought of starting seemed to overwhelm so I guess I somehow talked myself in not doing anything which was really dumb. I'm going to try and post new pictures every week. If I have questions about the family relationship, I'm hoping our family will step up and help out. Maybe one day one of my tech savy family members will offer to make this a real site that is actually helpful for others who are trying to collect family history information.
Please, won't you join me!
