Brigham City LDS Temple at Sunset

We were leaving my son's house Friday night and we came upon the most beautiful sunset. It just so happens that the temple sits right in front of this most beautiful sunset every night. I was in a hurry to deliver some Christmas packages and stopping to take pictures really wasn't on my list of things to do but once I saw this I just had to stop. This was so beautiful. The temple, the sunset, the lighting... everytthing. It was a beautiful night.

Brigham City LDS Temple

As I continue to work on unfolding the stories of my family gone before me, I can't help but reflect upon those who settled right here in Brigham City, Willard and Mantua and how happy they must be at the progress of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the building of a Temple right here where they once attended school and farmed and taught the gospel to their young families. I'm sure my great-grandparents never imagined such a beautiful sight right here for their future generations to enjoy. How disappointed they will be if I don't get busy and do what needs to be done to move the work along. I have a testimony of temples and the Lord's work to seal families together as eternal families if we live worthy. I know that Satan is hard at work to destroy the family and all that is good. We must stand strong as we prepare our defense against him and his followers. I am grateful for such amazing pioneer heritage which came before me provided me with the Gospel in my life. I pray I can always live up to the name I've been given and never bring it shame.

When a mother dies...

This is such a treasure to receive! It answers for my mom what she had wondered about her entire life. This information came to her in this priceless letter from a cousin on Feb 20, 1997. Due to size of the writing it is a bit difficult to read so I am going to type it for you so you can read it more easily:
 Dear Nora,
This is the house I was born in. It may be where you were born also. My mother said your parents were living here at the time of your birth. Because of the sickness of your mother, Nancy Adeline Simpson (our gradnmother) came to live and help.  Your mother passed away and William Orion (your father) went to Idaho to harvest potatoes. At that time my parents, Christopher Vernon and Beulah Simpson and my sister June moved in to help with the family also. We lived there until 1934. Aunt Verna Alice Simpson Hermanson lived just across the street and Howard (your brother) went to live with her. Afton (your sister) went back to Kaysville and lived with grandmother Nancy A Perkins Simpson. Your father was also there some of the time. My mother moved about a block from the above pictured home and Ruth lived with us as well as with one of your mothers sisters. This is how I remember it and also how Beulah (my mother) recalls it. I hope it might be of interest to you. Your cousin, Jack Simpson

Might be of interest?! Wow, he had no idea! This is priceless! What an amazing gift to have connected with this cousin Jack Simpson. My mom - being the baby at the time of her mothers death went to live with a sister of her mothers. She really never saw her siblings much again during her growing up years. My mother was the only child of the 4 to be raised by the Miller side of the family while the other 3 children were raised by the fathers side of the family - the Simpson's. Interesting how the children were divided.

July 30 2012

You can probably tell by the backyard in the picture that this is not a current pic - in fact the first of the 3 was taken on my mom's 76th birthday. She will be 84 on Aug. 9th. Mom and dad just celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on July 30th.
These pictures below were taken at Tylers and Karie's wedding 7 years ago. My how time has flown bye.
Happy Anniversary Mom and Dad! What a great example of love and patience - 60 years!
